Dandy Lions

Rough rough sketch of a word picture that popped into my head after some clever words from a friend. Thanks, Sarah.

Doe, a deer

Newest acrylic on 8 x 10 canvas. This was a fun one. I took a canvas that I had pre-stained some months earlier and just had a hey day with it. Deciding what to name her. Possibly "Dhoa Deer", to be silly. We'll think on it.

PS, she's available for purchase here, if you care to see.

Valentines, White Lines, and Stop Motion.

Had our very dear friends Collete and Andreas over in memoriam of The White Stripes and-as an afterthought- in honor of valentines day. You can refer to the picture for adorable Valentines hearts and Candy. Also Peewee (short for Pigwidgeon) the plush owl, "Whoo" I bought for Collete because he was just too cute to pass up. She hearts owls almost as much as I love foxes.

Had a great evening, spun some Stripes vinyl, talked music and all manner of conversation, and enjoyed some delicious homemade "Pepperhint" cookies from Collete.
She's a fantastic cook and these were no exception.

I took about a thousand and one pictures, and after going through them in my photo library, I realized I had the ingredients for one very choppy and poor "stop motion" film, or at least a very fast slideshow. This was my first nod toward any film making of the sort, and I know its not good, but many of these pictures would have been lost due to their all too candid nature had I not compiled them into this very sketchy "film". Music is "The Red Curtain" by Mirah. Enjoy, for what its worth! Also, some edited stills following the clip.

New painting! Finally!

So I feel like I am finally climbing out of my rut of non-productive "Creative Block". I started this canvas last week, painting over an already painted on canvas that I started ages ago. I enjoyed the process and was pretty happy with how it turned out, as nothing more than an expressive piece with absolutely no meaning. I plan on putting it in a gallery with some similarly cheery colored pieces and prints. I don't really ever have a style to my work, I have tried any mediums possible and always vary my colors and themes, I don't really ever have a set theme in mind. However I've noticed myself taking a liking to lowbrow pop art and brighter colors, spray paint and mixed media. Anyway, I hope this is the first of many new pieces. Enjoy xx

In the process of.

So this is why my apartment always looks the way it does...

OK, here it is.

And here you can see part my savage shelf of awesome random junk that deserves its own post in and of itself^_^

Rooftop days as records play...

Jan 31/Feb 1:
January evolved into February with my boyfriend and I spinning my new Hellogoodbye vinyl on the rooftop of his apartment building. Layered sweaters kept us warm, and the music and a "little cream soda" kept us cool. One of our earliest dates involved him sneaking onto the rooftop of the building in which he worked at the time, cream sodas in hand, to watch the sunset, and its been a habit of ours ever since. February is the month for love, and we started things off right this year ^_^

You can never have too many skulls in your wardrobe.

That being said, I couldn't pass up this lovely gem when I ran across it on the way back home from an out of town dentist appointment. You remember how when you were little, you were allowed to reach into the tooth shaped toy box and pick out some candy or a really cheap plastic frog or something? This was my adult equivalent of that. Anyway, isn't it lovely?

Is it really healthy to love coffee as much as I do?
